BAD AI

Wildcard Friday, in which I feature my disgust with AI, even as its desperate little icon chases my text as I write. (Really, Wix? At least give me the option to shut this shit off because why.)
You're probably a writer or an artist, so you're the choir, the converted, the team I'm happy to play with.
But maybe, like me, you'll be truly surprised by the vile slop Meta proposed for an ad for my lovely client, Claire Ross Dunn. Claire was interested in exploring Meta ads, and, with the help of a collaborator with deep knowledge of Meta, we started the process.
We had an original graphic (made by me, one already doing well on IG); when we loaded it into the Meta ad system, these bonkers suggestions were proposed by Meta AI— which seem desperate and absurd. Like, who are these random people, and why is the type illegible; and, sadly, why does so much of it look familiar?

But seriously, whyyyyyy? How is any of this garbage improving anything?
Better/worse yet, Meta makes recommendations within these slop-piles.
I may well literally die on this hill (see data centres et al), but FUCK AI. I've lost jobs, careers, and even friends—no, not friends, because no one I call a friend would be AI-positive. Some acquaintances have dropped off.
AI is a broken proposal by desperate late-stage capitalists.
If AI is measuring the success of AI, and AI is telling us what works (see the twisted sh*t above), who are the lunatics, and define the asylum.
IRL there are massive, multi-billion-dollar lawsuits being held tight by writers (and other artists and designers) against the jerks who scraped our heart-wrenched work to create slop, as above. And, will we, the little folk with an eye on the actual liveable future, win? Nope. But.
Eat the rich. At the very least, tax them hard, ffs. They are NOT healthy or respectful participants in our economy. And let's fight the good fight, support real, human-made art, celebrate work that's made from souls and hearts, and be real intelligence that defeats the artificial. It's truly the least we can do.
